"Why use a Fly Fishing Guide?"

DFFGA members provide a professional guiding service on Devon's rivers and stillwaters. They are all qualified game angling instructors and hold appropriate insurance, a First Aid certificate and a CRB Disclosure Certificate.

But guiding is about more than helping you catch fish. It's about giving you a memorable day out on Devon's wonderful rivers, lakes and small stillwaters.

"In the West Country you can catch trout from after breakfast till sunset,
and enjoy the open air and the country for as long as the sun is in the sky"

(Dermot Wilson, 'Fishing the Dry Fly', 1957)

Devon Fly Fishing Guides can unlock the secrets of catching wild fish in wild surroundings, and help you make the most of your trip:

  • by asking you - before your guided trip - what you want out of your day
then recommending the right location and the right time
  • by giving advice on permits and licences
  • by lending or hiring suitable equipment
  • by giving you local insight into successful flies and techniques
  • by introducing you to the most desirable places to live in Devon -
from the trout's point of view !
